The Good News is that most leaders are made, not “Naturally Born.” They are made because of their life experiences and how they learn to respond to them. If you read the biographies of successful people you will often read that they also had proactive parents that groomed them for leadership.

The Choe's Hapkido Martial Arts Academy Program teaches your child what they need to know to be a great leader.

To become a great leader?

To overcome the fear of taking charge?

To learn to lead in the right way?

To know the right things to say?

To act like a leader?

Parents, have you asked yourself, how do I teach my child…

Have you had trouble finding the answers to these questions? If so, it's probably because you have tried to be very specific, when the answers are more about the Traits of Great Leaders, than exactly what leaders say, or do.

If you’re like most parents, you spend a considerable amount of time, thinking about our kid’s futures. We want them to do what makes them happy, but we also want them to excel at whatever that is. We have heard about “Naturally Born Leaders”. We hear that they get the best choices, recognition and pay, which is true of great leaders.

But what if your child was is not a Naturally Born Leader?

Have you heard about “Transferable skills”?

If your child plays baseball and is a good hitter, they must have good hand-eye coordination. Good hand-eye coordination is a transferable skill. They will likely also be a good golfer because of the similarities of hitting a baseball with a baseball bat to hitting a golf ball with a golf club.

Martial Arts Training teaches all the traits – transferable skills, it takes to be a great leader.

Forbes magazine is not a kid’s magazine, it’s a business magazine for adults. However, we are talking about preparing our kids to be great leaders into adulthood, let’s look at what Forbes published about the "Top 10 Qualities That Make A Great Leader."

1. Honesty - Ethical behavior

2. Delegate – Trust your team

3. Confidence – Staying calm and confident will help keep your team feeling the same.

4. Commitment - If you expect your team to work hard and produce quality content, you’re going to need to lead by example.

5. Communication - relate your vision to your team

6. Positive Attitude - keeping your team motivated

7. Creativity – Plays a vital role in making on the fly decisions

8. Intuition - Higher pressure situations mean your natural intuition has to kick in.

9. Inspire - It is your job to keep the team’s spirits up.

10. Approach - In order to optimize your effectiveness as a leader, you must have the ability to customize your approach on a person by person basis.

These are the skills that your child learns from one thing, that easily transfer to another.

Sports is great example.

Let’s see how the Forbes “Top 10 Qualities That Make A Great Leader”, match up with the traits and transferable skills you learn within Choe's Hapkido Martial Arts Academy Training.

Honesty – One of the core values of Martial Arts Training is Honesty. We teach your child how to be honesty with themselves and others. In martial arts training your child will learn very quickly if they are not being honest with themselves. This is because the successful execution of self-defense techniques requires you know your strengths and limitations.

Delegate – Admittedly, not one of the first things kids learn with martial arts, but if they want to, helping with classes is always welcome, and that does require the ability to delegate.

Your child should closely watch all the students in their classes, because they are going to get to teach them next week. Here’s a tip. Your child needs to be ready for anything your instructor throws at you.

Week 6: This is the big week - they get to lead the class! After they teach their chosen “Leadership Technique” to the class, their instructor will provide detailed feedback and a special certificate of accomplishment.

6 Week Leadership Program for Kids

We look forward to working with you toward this very exciting goal! Call us at 401-231-1246 to get started or take advantage of our new student special online by clicking below.

Do this for your child and you will have taken the first steps in grooming your child to becoming a great leader.

Confidence – It’s a major confidence boost when your child knows that they can defend themselves against bullies or predators. All the physical training will make your child feel great. Kids who study martial arts are known to exude confidence.

Commitment – Another natural and transferable skill in martial arts is learning to set goals and committing to a course of action. Your child will learn this because of the positive reinforcement and recognition they will receive via the belt ranking system.

Communication – Good communication is about thinking clearly, taking your time and confidence. Clear thinking and patience are natural byproducts of Martial Arts Training as they are required for your child to be able to defend themselves under high pressure situations. These transferable qualities also help with public speaking and communicating effectively to individuals or small groups.

Positive Attitude – Martial Arts Training Environments are one of those places you see posters with the word CAN’T crossed out. A CAN DO, positive attitude pervades our classes.

Intuition – Unlike other sports, Martial Arts Training teaches kids how to find their center, to stop the mind chatter, and to access their inner strength. To let what you already know come out when it is needed. This is intuition.

Creativity – Forbes mentions the importance of “Creativity” in helping to make decisions on the “Fly”. Learning to response calmly and properly to any number of unexpected attackers is practically the definition of creativity for leadership. Choe's Hapkido Martial Arts Academy  Training will train your child how to be quick thinking and lightning fast with responses even when they have no idea what is coming at them.

Inspire – Inspiring a team is all about everything we have been talking about here. Confidence, quick thinking, the ability to handle pressure, honestly and a positive attitude will inspire those around your child.

Approach – In Martial Arts we teach your child how to size up opponents in the matter of a split second. This is another transferable skill and trait giving your child the ability to size up a person to determine the right approach toward them for the purposes of trying to motive, persuade or teach them.

To help parents and kids who are interested in developing leadership skills, we have created a 6-week program that will set your child on the right track, and give them the best start toward becoming a Great Leader.

If your child falls in love with the program, as most kids do, they simply stay in the program and keep learning and achieving.

Here are the steps in starting and finishing this program:

Week 1: Sign your child up at our new student special offer of 6 weeks of lessons for $99. Schedule at least two classes a week.

Week 2: At the end of this week, they will have taken four classes and have learned several techniques. From these techniques, your child will be asked to choose a technique to teach the class in four more weeks, after they have had a chance to develop it. This will be their Leadership Technique!

Week 3: They will continue to learn new techniques and practice their chosen “Leadership Technique”. We will ask your child top pay close attention to how the instructors start and finish classes. Listen to what they say, how they say it, and watch their body language.

Week 4: If possible, make sure your child does not miss any of their classes, and be sure they practice their chosen “Leadership Technique”. Remind your child to ask their instructor for feedback on how they are doing and if they have been exhibiting the traits of great leaders during their classes. Also, reminded your child to keep paying close attention to how their instructors lead the classes.
